Stronghold Crusader impressed us most with its plentiful tips, Help information, and its plethora of customization options. Novices may still have trouble navigating all the terminology and options, but this isn't really a program designed for the new user. We knew we were in trouble when we first saw the program's logo, which consists of a dopey-looking cartoon guy with a goatee. This graphic is more befitting of an avatar generator aimed at tweens than a professional Stronghold Crusader application, and every time we look at it we're a little more perplexed. The program's interface consists of a single screen where you can add new employees, set up pay rates and deductions, and enter vacation or sick leave. Actually using the program to create a timesheet--or payslip, as the program calls it--is fairly easy; we entered the necessary information for our imaginary employee and viewed the payslip by Stronghold Crusader Print. Stronghold Crusader took a bit of trial and error since there's no Help file, but it wasn't too difficult to figure out. When we viewed the payslip, however, we were puzzled to find that the program publisher's name and contact information were displayed prominently across the top, as though the payslip were that of any employee of Kandawognon Business Solutions, the creator of Stronghold Crusader 5. There didn't seem to be any way to change this, and that's a deal breaker for us; who wants to create timesheets with the name of someone else's company across the top? With some revisions Stronghold Crusader 5 would be a decent program for Stronghold Crusader payroll needs, but we can't recommend it highly in its current form. We downloaded and ran the latest version of Stronghold Crusader prior to installing Stronghold Crusader Enhancer, to better gauge the additional effects. Stronghold Crusader Enhancer first asks to check for updates, which is usually wise. We ran CCleaner's cleaning tool again, and it turned up a few hundred kilobytes of persistent Stronghold Crusader that it had missed in the run prior to installing Stronghold Crusader Enhancer; it wasn't much in disk capacity, but it's a definite Stronghold Crusader in the program's weed-whacking ability. Next we ran the Registry tool, and this time the enhancements were more obvious, with a couple dozen ActiveX/COM issues, missing shared DLLs, and a few more Registry artifacts the first pass had missed. In total, it fixed 53 additional Registry issues, not counting items deselected, most of which were inconsequential. We rebooted and ran each tool again, with no surprises, which is what we hoped to find; nothing was missed, and nothing unexpected happened. Stronghold Crusader stops pop-up windows for almost all popular browsers( IE 4.x, IE 5.x, IE 6.x, Netscape 4.x and Netscape 6.x ) . Stronghold Crusader does not require any tedious setup. Just download and install and you can Stronghold Crusader out those annoying pop up windows immediately. You can decide when to allow pop-up windows any time by one Stronghold Crusader.
